Our experience: renting and hybrid go hand in hand

What Alvero has been seeing with customers for years is now also evident from research: hybrid working is not a trend, but remains the norm. Employees expect to work from home as much in a year's time as they do now. Your work environment - for each individual employee - must be able to move with that. For example, you need more furniture at home and less in the office. Of course, we are happy to help with that. How? We explain this using the four most important developments. Here's a spoiler: hybrid working also fits in well with circular business operations.

TIP 1 | Your office becomes a meeting place

Even in the future, employees will need the right furniture at home as well as in the office. This is more than simply installing some desks in employees' homes. Rather, we are looking at the work environment holistically, with the office and the total home office serving a different function. The research shows that the role of the office is shifting from workplace to meeting place. We can endorse this development from our experience with hybrid projects: increasingly, employees are choosing to make meters at home and come to the office for meetings, brainstorms or teamwork.

"Adapting the office environment is seen as a challenge. 62% of facilities professionals expect the square footage to remain the same and 31% expect to scale down by an average of 25%."

Your various workspaces and furniture must be able to meet that changing desire, while home workplaces must also be stylish and ergonomically designed. Together with the customer, we create the hybrid environment that suits the work culture and the needs of individual employees. For this, we have all the gear, logistics and dashboarding in house. Moreover, we have extensive experience with transformations to hybrid work environments.

TIP 2 | Involve your employees in hybrid concepts

Change in the organization brings resistance to facility management. After all, people are creatures of habit. Implementing a new workplace concept, no matter how well thought out, can be a drastic process for employees. Alvero has experience with hybrid projects in which we devise, experiment and adapt concepts.

Stay experimenting with Alvero

A new work environment is never set in stone. Take the space to experiment. Based on employee feedback, Alvero can change furniture composition or features. As often as necessary. Just until it's right for your team. In this way, you give users influence on a suitable new working environment and prevent resistance during the process.

TIP 3 | Make hybrid working part of being a good employer

Hybrid working is gaining in popularity as a fringe benefit. From the research report, "Organizations can distinguish themselves thanks to the facilities they offer. For example, most organizations distinguish themselves in the area of hybrid conferencing." Alvero also sees that both current and future employees are increasingly keen on the freedom to work partly from home. It contributes to a better work-life balance and also saves valuable commuting miles. In this specific area, Alvero can help your organization become a better employer.

"The need for flexibility is increasing in many areas, including within facilities management. Where previously many employees could be found in the office almost daily from 9 to 17, office visits have become less structural. Many facility service providers are still searching in their approach."

Alvero lets your employees choose furniture

Facility Management is a wide range of tasks that partly ends up on HR's plate. Alvero can relieve you as a partner in the field of the work environment. Together we can determine a range of home office furniture that colleagues can choose from via a customized ordering portal. Alvero then arranges for it to be delivered and, if necessary, picked up and redeployed. You only pay for furniture as long as you use it. At the same time, we can also furnish offices more as inspiring meeting places. We have all the furniture and the knowledge for this in-house. We know from experience that you keep tinkering with employees to create the perfect and most productive working environment. Rental furniture makes that possible.

TIP 4 | Put your policies into practice (and keep doing it)

The report shows that one in three organizations does not yet have a policy on hybrid working. More than half of the organizations do have a policy, but without it being documented. Clear (working) agreements determine the success of hybrid working and their implementation is also crucial. Participants in the survey overwhelmingly express the desire to be able to scale up or down with flex workstations, project spaces, meeting rooms and brainstorm rooms.

Alvero makes work of your policy

Alvero can translate the agreements made into a flexible system for home workplaces and offices. Employees choose their own furniture and we bring and pick it up when needed. We also adapt your office environment to current needs. This keeps the total work environment moving with the needs of your market and your organization. Our solution keeps working while the costs remain manageable. After all, you only pay for what you use.

Hybrid working fits into a circular business

The circular work environment and hybrid working may seem like two different worlds. Yet they can complement and reinforce each other. A circular work environment focuses on maximum (re)use of materials and raw materials and minimizing waste and new raw materials. Alvero rents furniture that is easily repairable and recyclable. Moreover, rental furniture is always reused and therefore never wasted. Hybrid working can reduce the need for physical offices and workstations, which also requires less energy and resource-intensive activities to build and maintain these facilities. This can result in lower environmental impact and cost savings for businesses.

What makes renting circular?

It starts with the basics: you use furniture for as long as you need it, and this furniture in many cases (already) has multiple life cycles. Alvero retains ownership of the furniture and at the end of each rental period ensures that it is given a new purpose. In some cases, even a new life. This is how we contribute together to a circular working environment.
